Ringers - Curses
1234 Go! - - 12inch
Boston based Ringers play some of the most direct, driving, anthemic, honest and heartfelt punk, devoid of pretense and eyeliner, that you're likely to hear this year. They'd hate to know I said that but it's true. Ringers is everything I look for in a band, poignant lyrics you can identify with, rough hewn melodies that move you, and an amazing live show to bring it all together. Fans of bands like Against Me!, Hot Water Music, Kid Dynamite and Dillinger Four should definitely take notice. Features former members of The Insurgent, Speakeasy and Melee.

Ringers - Detention Halls
Yo Yo Records - - 12inch
Their 2nd full length! Well-written gritty pop punk for late night coffee shop romantics and anyone trying to figure what happened to their youth and where they're supposed to go from here. I think that just about covers everyone! This is also a band that gets "influences" right: influences are supposed to run in the background, providing some of the energy for what you're doing, not a playbook for your song writing. I hear hints of everything that made 90's East Bay pop punk great, a touch of '77, on occasion the drive of true post-hardcore and enough inspiration and originality to make it all into something different.
