Andrew Jackson Jihad - Only God Can Judge Me
Asian Man Records - - 10inch
Here's the vinyl release of AJJ's new EP. I saw Sean a couple weeks ago at a show in Phoenix and he was so drunk that afterwards I drove his car to a burrito place, and then when he sobered up we went to this crazy hotel with four hot tubs and sat in them all until 3am.

Bomb the Music Industry - Get Warmer (blue/clear splatter vinyl)
Asian Man Records - - 12inch
BTMI! plays a blend of musical styles, but are anchored around ska and punk. They're often compared to bands such as THE BLUE MEANIES, FISHBONE, or BIG D AND THE KIDS TABLE, that blend a range of influences and experimental effects into their ska framework. Studio experimentation, synth-pop, and DC hardcore also pop up in the mix, and singer/songwriter Jeff Rosenstock claims influences from such bands as HARVEY DANGER and NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL as much as the standard ska/punk affairs. In live performances the band has begun using digital technology to create breakdowns that sound like they are lifted from 8-bit videogames. BTMI! have been self-releasing their own albums since 2004, which can be downloaded for free at the band's website. "Get Warmer" will be their first actual, physical product.

Bomb the Music Industry! - Scrambles
Asian Man Records - - 12inch
Bomb The Music Industry returns with their second Asian Man release. Full of punk, ska, humor, seriousness, confusion, hate, love, and every idea that Jeff Rosenstock has ever had, ever. Not exactly self-confessional, Scrambles is more like a wonderful, frenzied look into the lives of Jeff and the many people who made up this record: their successes, failures, and general sloppy disorganization.

Pteradon / Shinobu - Split
Asian Man Records - - 7inch
Each band contributes two songs on this spilt, which also features what is possibly the most horrible album artwork ever seen. Both bands are from San Jose, CA. The smart, fun, and extremely literate SHINOBU keeps it loose, while the more technical-minded (and only slightly less literate) PTERADON keeps it tight.

Riverdales - Invasion USA
Asian Man Records - - 12inch
The Riverdales are a Chicago-based band which formed in 1994 in the wake of prominent Chicago punk band Screeching Weasel. At a time when pop-punk was breaking through to the mainstream, Screeching Weasel front man Ben "Weasel" Foster elected to end the band and get back to his Ramones-based roots. Foster shared vocal and songwriter duties equally with co-frontman Dan "Vapid" Schafer (a proven frontman in his own right from his days in Sludgeworth). Foster elected to write riff-based songs with fun themes, while Schafer tempered this goofiness with catchy, oldies-themed pop songs, as well as a few goofy themes of his own.
Now, 15 years after their original formation, The Riverdales are back in full force, playing select one-off shows across the nation in support of their new album Invasion USA, an absolute gem in the sub-genre some have called "retardo." Featuring song-titles almost exclusively inspired by Mystery Science 3000 and a new, fuller 4-piece lineup, the boys in blue jeans might be missing the MENSA convention, but they'll rock you hard and leave you sweaty. Look for them in your area soon!
