Barrakuda McMurder - Slow Crawl
It's Alive - - 7inch
Barrakuda McMurder is the first band to come from Grath Madden, former front man for the late, great Steinways, since their untimely end. Slow Crawl is packed with fantastically catchy melody and harmonies that fans of The Steinways' past recordings will be well accustomed too, but lyrically this EP has taken a turn for the slightly more serious. Sure the songs are still about love and all that junk, but they read a little more personal than before. A great first release from a new band showing lots of promise.

Bastard Noise - A Culture of Monsters
Deep Six Records - - 12inch
"A CULTURE OF MONSTERS" revives the depiction of "odyssey" via music and challenges the imagination in unprecedented manner. Arrangements for "A.C.O.M." span a wide range of unrelenting, progressive and atmospheric expression without compromising potency or dynamic color. True to the "skull-tradition" of collaboration T.B.N. enlisted the efforts of many "trusted-skulls" to complete this endeavor, most noteworthy project guests: NATHAN MARTIN (CREATION IS CRUCIFIXTION) who performs the spoken-word title manifesto & MIKE REYNOLDS (LACK OF INTEREST) who deployed his own particular brand of mighty vocal havoc on a key track.

Belle and Sebastian - Write About Love
Matador - - 12inch
Back after a 5-year hiatus doing solo projects, soundtracks and more, Glasgow’s beloved BELLE AND SEBASTIAN have returned with one of their finest albums. Marrying the intimacy of early works like Sinister and Tigermilk with the production values of their more recent work, Write About Love is a varied, captivating and occasionally disturbing trawl through the mind of Stuart Murdoch and his colleagues. The album features duets with Norah Jones and actress Carey Mulligan (An Education) and, like their last album, was recorded with full orchestration with Tony Hoffer at the Sound Factory in Los Angeles. The booklet comes with essays about the recording of the record by Stuart, and the gatefold vinyl includes an MP3 download coupon for the entire record plus two wonderful bonus tracks.
