The long awaited official eighth album from Kind of Like Spitting builds on ecclectic past efforts with a scattershot of searing rock, up-in-arms folk, bone-dry ballads and wistful traditionals. Ben Barnett, singer and songwriter, has also played in The Thermals awhile back, and you can hear this in a few of the tracks as well.

Barnett's songs can rotate between somber, solemn solo pieces, explosive, full-band rock or pop, and songs with his talented friends bringing in other instruments to highlight or create a mood. Between all styles handled by Kind of Like Spitting, though, lies the solid punk ethic and influence and an ability for immense lyrical depth and directness held by truly few.

Do you remember when power pop ruled the LA punk scene in the late 70’s? Well, Toronto, Ontario’s The Bayonettes sure do, and they are well on their way to reminding us that punk music can still be fun and catchy as hell.

So if The Exit Strategy were from Washington, DC and not from our home base of Buffalo, NY we think they would be on the lips of every indie/punk rocker.
